 Children Learn What They Live
by Dorothy Law Nolte (1924 - 2005)
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.
The project "Champions of Life" was born in 2009 and inspired by the message from  of Dorothy Law Nolte's verses. The different planning actions which characterize the entire program, outlined below, have in common an exact mission: to offer children alone, in a state of abandonment or separation from their natural parents, a condition of hospitality that could assure a feeling of security, affection, and the warmth of a family.
The project “Champions of Life” is designed and sponsored by the Zamperetti Foundation.

The "Life Villages"
The Life Villages will be structured to accommodate in a family context orphans, the abandoned children or temporarily unable to live with their own family, belonging to three age groups:
Childrens (6-13)
Teen-agers (13-18)
Adults (18-21).
Each family house in the village will give hospitality to four children of different age, together with an elderly man or woman who are chosen to be like their grandfather or grandmother residential educator. The Villages of Life communities will be constituted by 20 to 30 families for a total of 100-120 guests.
The villages will offer the opportunity to welcome long term, with supporting the children in their growth until they reach self-sufficiency. The continuity offered by the service, helps to develop lasting emotional bonds in the context of individual family unit, without detracting any affection towards natural parents. The ”Champions of Life” Villages main objective is to prepare children for a peaceful and independent future.

Sailing & Life

Sailing as training, discipline and therapy

The program ”Champions of Life” also includes the project “Sailing & Life” that will start in the summer 2010.
The project ”Sailing & Life “will manage sailing courses for children from 6 to20 years of age followed by federal instructors and team managers who can meet all the needs required.
The first approach to the sport of sailing should be managed by all the perspicacity, leaving nothing to chance.
The sailing course is understood as a time for fun and socialization but at the same time as a serious approach to a discipline which is based first of all on sporting and mental values.
Preparatory courses will be followed by weekly cruises.
The ultimate goal(AIM) of this experience is the maturity of the boys from the psychological and social point of view which can express a new openness towards others, in learning to make decision in any critical situations, intending without prejudice and hesitation, knowing to have a role within society.

Santa Maria Goretti as a testimonial of the project
Her name was Maria Goretti; she was killed at the age of 12 on 6th July 1902, because she refused- in the name of faith- the sexual advances of a young man named Alexander; about that she was proclaimed a Martyr by Pope Pius XII and canonized in 1950. Maria Goretti was born in Corinaldo, the town that will host the Project “Champions of Life”. With her purity and sacrifice she will be the most significant emblem of all the themes and objectives of the project: an unconditioned commitment, in defense of children and women, raped by conditions of socio-cultural degradation.
